It sits along the south side of the Fraser River, with the Trans-Canada Highway running through the centre of it from east to west. Chilliwack is BC’s seventh largest city and the second largest city in the district, having a population of oround 80,000 people. It is a beautiful city that is surrounded by mountains and recreational areas, though it is also a vibrant city that has a strong music and theatre scene.

Nicknamed “The Wack”, Chilliwack is a fantastic place to live, as it is tranquil, inexpensive and has a small town vibe. Much of its cultural scene is in Downtown Chilliwack, which is home to the Chilliwack Cultural Centre and the Prospera Centre. Still, it is nearby Sardis that is the trendiest area of the city and where any Chilliwack resident will say to go for the best shopping, restaurant options and entertainment. Both of these areas are also the best parts of the city in terms of transportation, with more than half of the city’s 10 bus routes passing through this way. It is also home to the RCMP Pacific Region Training Centre. These are all located within the Canada Education Park in the vibrant Vedder Crossing neighbourhood. There are also a plethora of public schools, eight private schools and one Francophone school in the city. Another great thing about living in Chilliwack is that it has the warmest mean temperature for any city in the country.

Chilliwack is a thriving city with a strong economy that is based on manufacturing, retail and finance. It also has numerous parks that can be enjoyed after work or on weekends, like Cultus Lake Provincial Park, Fairfield Park and Gwynne-Vaughan Park, amongst others. In addition, its art scene is quite vibrant, with any Chilliwack local recommending things like listening to live punk or ska bands, enjoying the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra and going to the theatre.
