Spell it right User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 14, 2019) It's P-O-R-T-A-G-E Park, not Pottage. It's not near to the city, it's part of the city. Growing up in the 50s and 60s, it was the kind of neighborhood where nobody locked their doors at night because nobody dreamed of walking into a house that wasn't theirs. With the city of Chicago being so close, there are several fun things to do nearby. Living in Pottage Park, I get the closeness of a small community with big city features. The commute time to Chicago is only around 30 minutes, depending on the day and traffic. One thing that I like to do that is nearby is go to Millennium Park. Millennium Park is more than just a park! There are many architectures and landscape things to see. Several concerts are held at Millennium Park each year, and it is great place for the whole family to go.

There are several restaurants to eat at in Pottage Park. Some of these restaurants are chain restaurants, like Dairy Queen, and some are just local places. I feel that there is a great combination of both local and chain restaurants. There is a huge variety of the types of foods to get. You can get burgers, to steaks, to sausage.

The shopping is Pottage Park is plentiful. There are local boutiques to shop at, and there are also many big name retailers. You can find anytime of shop from clothing to home repair stores. If you want more high end shopping, then you can always go into the city of Chicago to find different shops. But, it is nice not having to go into Chicago for basic everyday necessities either.

The median income for Pottage Park is near the $49,000 mark, and you can tell by the people living here. The homes are pretty basic and so are the people. This makes it a great place for families to live. There are many local schools in Pottage Park all that have a great reputation. The cost of living here is less than in Chicago, but a little more than the national average. Of course, being so close to Chicago you can expect that things will cost a little bit more. Read Less
