The weather is warm but very comfortable and being so close to the water, there's a ton of activities. If you're looking to do a lot of shopping or clubbing, Central Islip probably isn't for you unless you don't mi ...Read More nd heading back to New York City.

It's just a touch cheaper to have a place here in Central Islip compared to the rest of the state, which helps. You'll probably be able to find more seasonal jobs than year-round jobs since it calms down a bit after summer is over.

On the other hand, it's great for a second home or if you want to spend just the summer here. Ther are enough casual restaurants to try out too, such as El Limeno Restaurant & Bar. The best area in Central Islip is Connetquot River State Park Preserve, on the south side of town. If you're looking for a fun place that thrives in the summer, Central Islip might do you well.
