Burke, Virginia: The Best Place for a Family 4 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 18, 2015) I was born and raised in a town called Alexandria which is located in the Washington D.C. area. I currently live in a town called Burke, located in Virginia. This town has so much to offer through the offered amenities, the low crime rate, as well as the prices of housing. Burke ...Read More is by far one of my favorite places to live despite some of the downsides. A few of the drawbacks to living in Burke Virginia is the fact that it is not an ideal place for those that love warm weather. In addition to this the cost of living here in Burke is quite high.

One of my favorite things about this area is that it is a place to bring up a family. I am a current stay at home with three children. Every morning I walk my children the half mile that it takes to go to school. The schools here are excellent and even have an excellent language program. From school, I walk to the nearest local market which is only 5 minutes of a walk from my house. I pick up all ingredients that I intend to use for each day's meal. Everything that I buy here is fresh and is also affordable.

There are so many reasons to live here in Burke, however the parts that do tend to prevent new residents are the weather and the cost of living. We do have great summers here in Burke, however the air can be quite humid. We also tend to have cold winters despite Virginia being in the more southern region. The reason why I also shop everyday for ingredients for each day's dinner is because the price of buying in bulk is surprising a lot higher. Read Less
