Not what it seems from the outside. User Rating 2.5 rating By Bkern1989 ( Jun 23, 2022) If you are looking for a place to live with plenty of things to do, Branson would be at the top of your list! Being a tourist destination, there are plenty of things to do for all ages and things continue being built here. However, it's important to know that you can't live lik ...Read More e a tourist, otherwise you'll go broke. Most attractions can be rather expensive, however there are free options. Fishing, hiking and people watching are just a few of your options.

Being a tourist destination, it can be rather interesting. You'll have your quiet time during January and February and some of March and most of April. However, after that things pick up and you'll dread getting out and doing simple things like grocery shopping. Then after Christmas, you'll breathe a sigh of relief that you made it through another year and you'll look forward to the break in Jan and Feb.

The unfortunate side of Branson is that drugs and crime, in particular, property crime is a HUGE issue. Locking your car and rolling up your windows is an absolute must, even if you run into a convenient store for just a minute. I've lived in some big cities, but Branson is by far, without question, the worst when it comes to property crime. A quick search will show you that. While we don't have a high violent crime rate, I still don't feel safe walking anywhere in town at night.

In addition to the crime, everything is going to cost you extra. Prices are raised on everything because businesses know the tourists will pay the price. There are multiple different taxes on goods and services, most of which I still don't even understand. A meal at any restaurant will be at least 20% more than that exact same meal would be in a normal city. It's unfortunate, but it's the reality of living in a tourist town. I personally don't find housing costs as expensive as some other people do. Considering what I've paid in the past, rentals are quite reasonable, but they are hard to find. Branson doesn't have many true apartment complexes, which means that if you are looking to rent, you might be stuck in an extended stay hotel which could have less than ideal living conditions. Branson MO living User Rating 2.5 rating By Whyno ( Dec 14, 2017) Branson MO is set in the middle of the Ozark plateau, Branson has what few cities have with beautiful scenery abundance of trees, creeks, lakes and huge rock lined streets. No reason it's a tourist town. But that's where Branson downfall comes in. The employment is based on to ...Read More urism and its so called music shows. Which means you either work in hospitality in motels or restaurants. Not much else. There are a lot of people who come here to find work in the summer and get stuck in poverty living in motels as winter time is a ghost town and attractions are closed. January to may is the down time. June is when it starts to pick back up as family's come here for summer vacation. There have been tons of businesses, hotels and restaurants close up here. Which has caused a huge increase in property crime. On the good side Branson has many great things about it. For a city this size you have quite a bit of attractions and restaurants. Shopping is pretty good with the Branson landing, tanger outlet mall, and Branson hills which has your big box stores. Best Buy, target, Home Depot, etc. Groceries are high and taxed. We have 2 wal marts one of them a super center. If need be more options are 35 to 40 minutes away in Springfield MO. I'd recommend Branson but the City Council and mayor that lead this town are draining every penny they can get out of the citizens and visitors. If you plan on moving here make sure you do your research first. Read Less
