I've been living in Bettendorf for several years now and so far, very much enjoy it. It's a bit far from any other major cities, but the city itself has a lot of appeal. If you have a family, Bettendorf may be an excellent choice.

The schools in Bettendorf are ranked quite high and there is a family YMCA in the downtown area. A potential downside is the lack of stores for day-to-day needs such as groceries and home goods, so having your own car instead of relying on the public transportation will help a lot.

Real estate in Bettendorf is very reasonable and the job market is solid as well. You'll certainly be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle without having to worry about home prices. One of the best areas in Bettendorf is Crow Creek Dog Park. I bring my dog there regularly and it's a perfect place to get some exercise and fresh air.
