I lived in Barnstable Town for about four years while I was in school. It is one of the most relaxing cities I have lived in. The beach access is magnificent, and I enjoyed being able to sit on my porch and watch the stars at night. There were several shopping areas close to my ...Read More
home, and there were many activities during the year that I went to.
One of the things that I did when I lived in the area was go on a whale watching cruise. The area offers these cruises during the year, but the best time to go is when the weather begins to warm up. If you go whale watching when it is cold, you won't be able to see anything. The boat was very large, and there were only a few other people on the tour. I got some great shots of whales and even one of a baby. If you like eating potato chips, then you need to visit the Cape Cod Company. You can walk through the entre facility and find out how they make their famous chips. When you reach the end of the tour, you receive a small bag of chips to take home with you.
One of the things that I liked about living in this area was the number of shopping centers. They were not the high fashion malls that you would find in a big city. The shopping centers that I went to had affordable clothing that I found to be just like other items I have purchased for more money. The area is famous for the number of thrift stores it has. I enjoyed living in this area, and I would go back if given the opportunity. It doesn't have a large selection of restaurants, so you have to improvise when it comes to going out for a nice dinner. However, the beauty of the area makes up for everything it doesn't have.
