Do not raise children here please 2 rating By Anonymous ( Mar 24, 2019) As I am a student living here I see many students as young as 10 involved in drugs and other sorts of violence. As many parents see that sports is good for finding friends before high school comes so your child will have an easier time adjusting to it, along with potential schol ...Read More arships and physical health of their child, it also comes with a price. Students associated with sports commonly smoke weed or juul. Since Barboursville is neighboring Huntington I have seen children in middle school be heavily involved with drugs such as weed or Xanax. Many kids also opt to sell their own pills for ADHD or other diagnosis alike. Also, living in a conservative city it is a very unwelcoming place for anyone apart of the LGBTQ+ community or any victims of violence such as sexual assault. Within the school system they do not take sexual assault situations seriously. Although it is a beautiful city being so close to the drug capital of USA it also comes with a price. Of course I could go on and on about the injustices of the city, it is also a hot spot for human trafficking. Yes it is a nice neighborhood and has nice residents within it, but the youth also have sex, do drugs, and have an altered sense of reality that is only egged on by peer pressure. Not to mention that within the school system they talk about sex education but completely ignore rape culture and other serious problems that run in our community. Read Less
