So so City 2.5 rating By Labboreno ( Jul 01, 2014) The town has a lot amenities, however it is more expensive than most. I have found the they have additional service fees on Mobile phones, cable as well as utilities.

The Riverboat Hollywood Casino is the big attraction, and with that being open 24/7 brings in a lot of problems. The town of Joliet not to far down the road offers yet another riverboat casino doubling the enticement for crime.

Living in Aurora is cheaper than neighboring communities however they are extremely pricey for the conditions of the facilitates. Read Less

The small town main street is still intact, but there are a lot of additional attractions and shopping centers that attract out of towners as well.

One of the biggest attractions in Aurora is the Hollywood Casino riverboat, located very near the downtown area on the Fox River. The riverboat has a casino, fine and buffet dining and shopping all in one place. Since it is located in downtown Aurora, you can walk right over and explore the little shops, restaurants and cafes. My favorite attraction in Aurora though is the Outlet Mall which has some of the best shopping and at a discount. Overall, there is a lot to do in Aurora, but it helps to know the area. Read Less

Aurora, Illinois is located approximately 40 miles west of Chicago. It is also known as the "City of Lights." Aurora is an expansive suburban town of almost 46 square miles and a population of approximately 200,000. It's located conveniently off of the I-88 east/west corridor tollway. Aurora spans across 4 counties. If offers friendly, Midwestern living with a larger town feel. Aurora has a fabulous downtown area on the Fox River. There are a few school districts in Aurora to choose from. Aurora has plenty of entertainment year-round. Its affordable housing makes it a great place to live for anyone. There are also many transportation choices in Aurora including the BNSF Railway Train Line that goes from downtown Aurora all the way to downtown Chicago.

The downtown Aurora area abounds with things to see and do. There are plenty of shopping and dining options. Try the old train station roundhouse, now the Two Brothers Roundhouse which is a restaurant and an artisan brewery. Enjoy a walk along the Fox River trails. The Hollywood Riverboat Casino is located right on the Fox River. The Prisco Community Center park district building is also located along the Fox River.

The shopping options in Aurora are plentiful. Aurora features the Westfield Shoppingtown at Fox Valley mall. There is an outlet mall located on the north side. There are also many shopping centers and strip malls throughout the entire city.

Some of Aurora's school districts are award-winning. There are 4 main public school districts in the city: districts 204, 308, 131 and 129. Aurora University is also located in the city limits. There are many private schools, preschools and STEM schools in the city as well.

Entertainment in Aurora is plentiful year-round. The River's Edge Park features Concerts in the Park in the summer. The Paramount Theater features plays and concerts year-round. In the summer enjoy Blues on the Fox, wine festivals and brewery festivals. Enjoy swimming and waterslides at aquatic center by Phillip's Park and the waterpark called Splash Country. Take a stroll through Phillip's Park Zoo or Blackberry Farm.
