Athens, Georgia is a good place to live if you enjoy the small city life. It doesn't have the noise, traffic or increased cost of living of a large city, so that's definitely a plus. Athens is a college city littered with college students. If you're young, then you'll find plenty of people to hang out with. The downtown Athens area has many restaurants, bars and clubs. Most of them are frequented by college kids. If you want to party and drink with older people, then drive to Atlanta, which is only an hour away. I know several people who've found administrative work at the University of Georgia. It's a good place to work that offers decent pay and benefits. Other large employers in Athens are St. Mary's Hospital, the Athens-Clarke County school system, and Athens Regional Medical Center. Some friends of mine commute to Atlanta because it's a larger city with more employment opportunities.
