Punta Gorda has the nightlife if that is what you are looking for. If you are looking for peace and quiet you can find that as well. It has amazing shopping, and entertainment your looking for. Punta Gorda is not a place for younger people or people who live a fast life. It is great, however, for older people. Many of the activities are boat related or are very "Florida-y". The restaurants downtown are pricy but excellent. I would say that the majority of the population would be older people and/or "rednecks".
