Top Rated Neighborhoods In Detroit, MI

The city of Detroit Michigan is known for a number of things. I would have to say that the automotive industry comes to mind first hand. For those of you who haven't had a chance to visit the Motor City it has its pros and cons like anywhere else in the country. Yes it has its fair share of crime and drug infested areas but on the up side it also has casinos and a ton of great places to grab a bite to eat and shop. While we are talking about the good things that the city has to offer we can't forget about the Tigers, Lions, Pistons and Redwings. There is one other thing that I have yet to mention and that would be music. Detroit with all of its imperfections will always be remembered for Motown. When it comes to music in Detroit the fire and passion will burn forever. In the next three paragraphs I am going to talk about three areas of Detroit. Sherwood Forest, Downtown and the Detroit Golf neighborhoods.

Sherwood Forest

Sherwood Forest is an area in Detroit, Michigan, established more than one hundred years ago in 1917. The district is bounded by Seven Mile Road, Livernois, Pembroke, and Parkside. The community, with about 435 houses, consists of two subdivisions: Sherwood Forest and Sherwood Forest Manor. The neighborhood was named after Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire, England which was the setting for the Robin Hood tales. In my opinion the schools are above average and it is a safe place to plant some roots and raise a family. Sherwood Forest has a number of homes for sale ranging from $150,000 up to $500,000+. This area is in a great location and is only 19 minutes away from the downtown area give or take a few minutes considering traffic.

Downtown

The downtown area of Detroit has something for everyone. Whether you’re a sports fan, a music lover or a gambler you can definitely find some trouble to get into when you arrive. Comerica Park is like an adult playground. The Hard Rock, Motor City, and Greek town casinos are world class and if you are a gambler you will feel right at home as soon as you enter any of the facilities. When I think about downtown Detroit it’s my personal favorite area when it comes to eating. It has a variety of different restaurants to choose from grabbing a quick bite on the go to sitting down to a nice 5 star meal. The schools are pleasant and there are quite a few options for living if you are wanting to settle right in the mix of the madness.

Detroit Golf

Detroit Golf Club has been a part of the community since 1899 and is home to one superb round of golf. If you are lucky enough to get an invitation to join the club you can see for yourself. It is only a short drive to downtown Detroit approximately 17 minutes and the food is amazing. This is only what I've been told. Of course the schools are fantastic and I would definitely raise my family in the area. Median home prices in Detroit Golf come in at around $180,000. Words cannot do this place any justice. So there you have it, the city of Detroit Michigan through three different areas all in which are staples of the Motor City.
