Yorktown, Indiana is a nice enough place, but it definitely could be better. I've been living in Yorktown for 6 years now, and even though it is a decent place to live and far better than some of the so-called best areas in Indiana I have lived in, there are still some things that could make it a better place to live. The crime rate is a bit alarming here. The schools and education system definitely need an overhaul and some improvements. Some jobs need to be created around here along with some housing to go with them. And the neighborhoods, streets, and downtown area could definitely use some TLC and sprucing up. All it would take is for the people who live here to take just a little bit of pride in where they live and this could be a really wonderful little place.
There are some pretty fun things to do for entertainment and recreation around here. We have White River Zip Lines, Canoe Country for some boating, rafting, and kayaking, Art and Soul by Phoebe Gallery, Escapades Family Fun Center, the Downtown Farm Stand Farmers Market, and some nice little shops and cafes around town. Honestly it would just take the smallest bit of effort to polish this place up and make it a place anyone would be proud to call home.
