If you're looking for a quiet and quaint neighborhood to raise your kids and settle down, living in Wethersfield Connecticut should be high on your list. Crime is very low and there are plenty of shops and family style restaurants to try. Wethersfield is more or less a blue-collar community. People are friendly but mostly keep to themselves. There is public transportation but because the buses run so infrequently, you might be better off getting a car or using Uber.
As far as job opportunities, I wouldn't say that there are many in Wethersfield. However, Hartford, the closest metro area, is only about 15 minutes away and there are tons of opportunities ranging from insurance to just about anything you can think of. Rent is affordable, especially if you're living in a dual-income household. A 3-bedroom will run you about $1100-$1300 per month.
When the weather gets warmer, there are a ton of farmer’s markets from which to get fresh, local fruits and vegetables. It’s also an opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and engage with the community. Autumn is absolutely beautiful. And, in the winter, the town really gets into the Christmas spirit by decorating all the street lamps with with wreaths and Christmas lights.
