Moving from a huge city to living in West Monroe, LA was a culture shock! The city has a population just under 13,000. I went to live with my grandma for a few years and it became very clear why she chose to stay here after retirement. It was peaceful and she lived near the Ouach ...Read More
ita River which has an amazing view.
The Louisiana Delta Community College offered great continued education courses and the professors were so hands on in the community. The small city life made me feel like I was more connected with everyone. I was able to volunteer at the local community center as an after school tutor and it was a great gathering space for the city.
The best areas in West Monroe is downtown and a bar called J-Max on Trenton street. The had the best cocktails and the staff was always so warm and welcoming. When my grandma passed the neighbors were very supportive and kept me in good spirits.
