Watertown, NY: Typical Working Class Town 3 rating By Anonymous ( May 14, 2018) I was born in Watertown, NY and always frankly considered it a rather dull location to hail from. It's near to Canada, only about 30 miles away from the border.

For practical reasons, it's convenient to be located in a regional center. There's even less happening in the surround ...Read More ing areas, but in this Northern New York region, it is the seat of state offices and the best medical treatment options are available.

The changing of the seasons here is quite nice and rather dramatic. I like to experience the activities that change throughout the months. My favorite Fall activity is to visit Burrville Cider Mill. They have great homemade donuts. In the Summer, I like to go rafting and canoeing on the nearby Black River.

There aren't a lot of job opportunities here unless you are tied to the local military base. The economy and therefore the schools aren't so great. It's primarily a working class population here. Not a lot of diverse perspectives and cultural influences. Read Less
