stay away from this city

This is not a friendly town. Dirty and crime filled. My car was stolen from the local mall the first night we went out. I was told that the only way I was getting it back was if it was pulled over, that there are so many cars taken nightly that they don't even bother looking for them. The streets were dirty and run down. The town green was filled with gang types and homeless people. I would say avoid this city at all cost. I never did get my car back by the way. It was found two blocks from the mall just a frame on blocks.

Waterbury, CT - Go See Brass City

I spent a week in August 2008 visiting an old college friend in Waterbury, aka Brass City. I was very excited about my first time in Connecticut! To save time and hassle, I picked the Courtyard Waterbury Downtown hotel and made reservations online. I spent the first evening relaxing in the room relaxing and refreshing from the plane ride. Upon arrival, the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well appointed. Very impressive!

During my week in the city of Waterbury, I visited St. Anne's Church, The Timex Group Museum, and saw a show at the Palace Theater. The architecture of St Anne's is breathtaking. I could have spent days looking at the stained glass windows alone. I wish I had more than a week to explore the city, as there seemed to be many other worthy attractions worth visiting in Waterbury. I spent much of my time in Waterbury afoot and exploring. There were a couple times I found myself lost, but the locals kindly pointed me in the right direction. Gino's Appiza restaurant on Wolcott St. cannot be beat in taste, selection, and service. I'd visit Westbury again just to enjoy a slice of their tomato and garlic pizza!
