Warren, a city in Trumbull County, Ohio is a very nice place to live. I've lived in Warren for about a year, but it feels like much longer. When I moved to Warren from Cleveland, I was worried that because the closest "big city" is Youngstown, I'd be bored, but that has not been ...Read More
the case. I was even surprised to learn that there are a few celebrities from my new city - Neil Armstrong, Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, and Roger Ailes, the chairman of Fox News Network were all born in Warren.
The city is full of a rich history, and has the museums and cultural venues to show it. I've found that Warren's variety of museums, art galleries, the Civic Center and even the world's first two story McDonald's are all worth a look. Although Warren's location and atmosphere are very different from a larger metropolitan area, this area is not at all boring. Warren's allure stems from the way that the city presents itself. The parks are very well maintained, as are the buildings in the city's heart. With just under 50,000 residents, Warren does not feel like a cluttered or claustrophobic metropolis, because it is the exact opposite. Sure, it has its share of traffic, people and buildings, but it is essentially what it presents itself to be: a close-knit community on the outskirts of one of Ohio's best known big cities.
Like every city, there are some restaurants that can only be found in Warren. Over the past year, two have become standout favorites: The Hot Dog Shoppe and Mocha House, a coffee shop and bakery. People in Warren have tended to be pretty friendly, but many of them have known each other for their entire lives, so they can be very set in their ways. Although it is nothing like living in a bigger city, the move from Cleveland to Warren was not as stressful as I'd anticipated it to be, and I have settled into new routines and surroundings easily.
