Swampscott, MA - City Review User Rating 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 16, 2018) I enjoy living in Swampscott because even though it is only 15 miles or so from Boston, it really has the feel of being a small beach town. History seems present everywhere. For example, I commute to Boston on the MBTA subway (aka “the T”) from Wonderland Station, a quaint Vi ...Read More ctorian era railroad depot.

That’s the other thing you should know about the town; living in Swampscott can be expensive. It really is more of a tourist town in some ways, although there is a good sense of community among those who live here year-round. Some of the houses on the shore boast the best views of the harbor, but have mortgages and rents to match!

The best areas in Swampscott include the town common which hosts a lot of fun events like the yearly Harbor fest. There are a lot of amenities in the town such as good schools, and a really charming downtown featuring a lot of neat shops and boutiques. Read Less
