Stony Brook is more than the University

Stony brook is a nice Long Island town that is well known for the SUNY university in the town which is one of the leading science schools in the country. The town of Stony brook is much more than just a college town, though it is certainly influenced by the presence of the university in many positive ways. The college puts a lot of money into the town indirectly through tax revenue and this is reinvested in the local school district. While homes in Stony Brook are expensive, their taxes are reasonable. Stony Brook also has nice hiking and outdoor trails to walk in and a nice mix of restaurants. There are a lot of Asian students st the University which has led to specialty Chinese grocery stores and restaurants such as the Red Tiger Dumpling House and the Green Tea Restaurant. There is an excellent tea house called Robinson’s Tea House with delicious scones in a cottage like atmosphere. Overall, Stony Brook is a wonderful town in Suffolk County to live in and one with great amenities.
