We have lived in Steamboat for over 6 years now. This city is crazy safe and the community is so welcoming and tight knit. With the SSWSC available for all children it is truly a wonderful place for your kids to grow up. Highly recommend and with the huge amounts of money being i ...Read More

I grew up in Steamboat Springs, CO. It is a FANTASTIC place to raise a family, and I will always be so grateful that my parents chose to move our family there from Denver, CO when I was 6 years old. My brother and I grew up playing sports, skiing on the two ski mountain resorts t ...Read More
hat were both five minutes from our house, playing in the Yampa River, hiking, biking, swimming, and running around barefoot until I left for college and my brother joined the US Ski Team (Steamboat creates more Olympians than any other town in the world thanks to our Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club). The public school education is phenomenal. I am currently in a master's program, and this is not as difficult as my junior year of high school. The teachers really care and put a lot of effort into the students' education. In my grade, very few people dropped out as we were required to apply for colleges in our junior year of high school. Those that could not afford a university got a full ride to the local community college. I chose to move away while I am in my 20s to spread my wings and experience new places, but I will be perfectly happy if I end up settling there. All four seasons are beautiful, the snow is like none other in the world (champagne powder), the spring is gorgeous with the trees blooming, the summer is green and warm (up to 90 degrees F, 80 degrees average), and the fall with the changing colors of the aspen trees is phenomenal. I could always run around downtown at all ages away from my parents and have no problem. The only times when the crime rates would rise is when people would come in from out of town during the tourist season, mostly theft and drunk people being idiots. It is a small town, so by the time I reached the end of high school, I was ready to leave, but my parents still live there and I LOVE coming home! There is no place like it. :)
