St. James: A Nice Place to Live User Rating 3.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) I really enjoy living in St. James, New York. My community is a hamlet that is actually part of a larger town called Smithtown. Located on the north shore of Long Island, the only issue with living here is that the cost of living is quite high.

There are multiple charming area ...Read More s in this little hamlet. The neighbors are always friendly and there always seems to be small community events happenings throughout the year. There is a lot of history to be found in this town and local residents that have been here their entire lives, are always ready to share a story of how life used to be.

The best areas in St. James, New York include the local beaches. There is a local beach located on the Long Island Sound and you can also take a quick trip to beaches that border the Atlantic Ocean. The area schools have a great reputation, if you have kids. Overall, just a nice place to live. Read Less
