Spirit Lake, Idaho Beauty 4.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 24, 2011) My neighborhood. I live in Spirit Lake, Idaho and the town is small enough to be a neighborhood. We boast a population of about 1,600 and growing. Located in north Idaho, we are only about an hour from the Canadian border. It is a mountain town with trees, snow in the winter, nic ...Read More e sunlight in the summer and, of course, a lake. The town has a feel all of its own and everyone takes care of themselves, their neighbors and even strangers. Even if you feel like an outsider in the beginning you soon learn that most of the residence has all moved from other states to find peace in the north.

We have one grammar school, one jr. high and one high school. Students learn all the basics and then some. Teaching standards compete with any other schools for goals with many students planning for a college education. There are two larger towns located near by. Couer d'Alene in Idaho is about a 30 minute drive and Spokane in Washington is about a 40 minute drive, depending on the route you take. They are close in distance, but as far from our reality as can be. Our main street has a couple of bars which allow children into the dining area. Here you will find some of the best prime rib in the country! There is a small diner and a wonderful Mexican food restaurant as well. Who Knew!

We are surrounded by lakes and rivers in every direction, along with forest for hiking and hunting. It is an experience you should see at least once in a life time. Read Less
