In the Summer of 2011 I was offered a great internship opportunity. I would be interning at the University of Utah which is located in Salt Lake City. I have never been a fan of Big City life so my Aunt agreed to let me board at her house in South Jordan for the summer. South Jor ...Read More
dan was the perfect mix of rural and city life. It's about 30 or so minutes away from Salt Lake City which was away enough from the hustle and bustle.
I lived in South Jordan for 4 months and without a doubt, the best experiences I had there were at the restaurants that South Jordan housed. There's an upscale restaurant called the Wild Rose; delicious food but I wasn't as comfortable as I would've been at a more homey restaurant. If I had to recommend eateries it would easily be Carver's Steak and Seafood or if you're feeling more adventurous the Simply Thai Restaurant.
The nightlife and activities in South Jordan are pretty typical. There are a few decent places to go, nothing overexaggerated. There was a nice Mini Golf place called Mulligans that I would take my little cousins too. For my aunt and uncle, we would frequent the sports bars. Pretty good food, but lacked a decent selection of beer. If someone is looking for extravagant beer don't be too surprised to find nothing more than Coors, Miller, or Budweiser at most places. No matter where you go the staff throughout the city is top notch. I chalked it up to the fact that these places were far enough from the city for servers to enjoy their time working. The community overall was appealing and quaint on its own.
