Sarasota is located in scenic Manatee County and sits at the tail end of Florida's beautiful Treasure Coast. The City of Sarasota is mostly populated by retirees from the Northeast and sits within 30 minutes of Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Florida's gulf coast beaches.
While Sarasota is located in Florida, it doesn't have any beaches of its own. Many of those that are foreign to Florida don't understand this and assume that since Florida is a peninsula it has endless beaches. Beaches in Florida are isolated to sections of the state where developers have cleared the coast of its native shore line swamps, marshes, and mangroves. So keep this in mind when looking for apartment rentals in Florida.
Luckily for those that live in Sarasota, it is located within 25 minutes of two of Florida's best beaches, Treasure Island and Fort Desoto. Out of the two, Fort Desoto held the ranking of America's best beach for five consecutive years and beat out the beaches of Hawaii, California, and other local Florida beaches. If beaches aren't your thing then you're also in luck. Given that Sarasota is so close to Tampa, you can easily access Orlando within an hour and half via interstates I75 and I4. For just a bit longer of a drive you can also easily access Daytona Beach, Miami, and even Key West.
Local apartment renters can easily access Sarasota Springs, Annabelle Island, the JP Igloo Ice Hockey Complex, and two of the largest outlet malls in the State. There is a reason why Florida is the hottest vacation spot in the western world.Source: The Sarasota, FL housing data displayed above is derived from the 2016 United States Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS).
