Having lived in Santee, CA, I can tell you that it's not a tourist town, but there are definitely some great things to do. With only about 53,000 people, the city of Santee has a nice small town feel to it, with tight knit communities. In the summer time, you can feel the city co ...Read More
me alive, with all the great entertainment and outdoor activities. If you like the suburbs, and enjoy the outdoors, then you'll definitely like living in Santee.
Do you enjoy golfing? If so, then head over to the Carlton Oaks Golf Course. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking, with lazy creeks and peaceful lakes, surrounded by rolling hills. There's also a lodge there, if you wish to stay overnight, but I really didn't care for it. The rooms are a bit outdated, and the food was just OK. There are plenty of other things to do though. In the summer time, there are free concerts in the park that are a blast. You can also go rock climbing at the Santee Boulders, or camping and fishing at Santee Lakes Regional Park. In the fall there's the Santee Wine and Bluegrass Festival, with fun activities for the whole family.
If you're thinking about moving to Santee, you won't regret it. Aside from the outdoor activities, you'll find plentiful shopping at the Trolley Square, which has all of the top name brand stores. There's also an abundance of places to eat. You'll find plenty of local restaurants as well as the usual franchise chains. If you're in the mood for steak, I recommend Pinnacle Peak. Their prices are really affordable, and their cowboy steaks are delicious. The only thing lacking about this city is the nightlife, though there are about a hand full of clubs that are pretty fun and trendy.
