Before relocating to Houston in 2006, I stayed in San Marcos for a few years. This beautiful city is located right on the border of Texas Hill Country. Although I am not a big fan of the arid climate in San Marcos, I really love the outdoor opportunities that the city offers. In ...Read More
addition, San Marcos is a shopper's paradise. The huge Tanger Outlet offers a plenty of shopping opportunities for all keen shoppers. This is after all the nation's largest shopping outlet with 240 retail stores.
The quality of life in San Marcos is praiseworthy. Unlike the urban settings in big Texan cities like Houston and Dallas, this city offers a friendly setting. Plus the region's year-round good climate, affordable housing options, abundant of entertainment and activity choices are something that you cannot miss to ignore. Low cost of living is another advantage for those moving to San Marcos. Studies claim that the cost of living in this city is 4.9 percent less than the Texas average. Families will be excited to know that there are quite good school districts in San Marcos.
If you love outdoor activities, then San Marcos is the place for you. The famous San Marcos River offers a plenty of recreational activity opportunities, including snorkeling, kayaking, sunbathing and canoeing. My family and I used to enjoy tubing here. Hiking and biking are other outdoor activities that you can enjoy here. The city indeed offers some of the best parks with 25 city parks and an ecological site at Spring Lake. The Historic Downtown in this city is one of the top attractions here. I also love the nighttime entertainment options in San Marcos. There are a number of upscale restaurants, beautiful cafes, pubs and nightclubs that altogether cater to the dining and nightlife needs of all residents and tourists.
