LONG ANSWER:
San Fernando, California is nowhere (and I do mean NOWHERE) near the ocean. The closest beach is 45-90 minutes away, depending on traffic. Trash on the street is fairly common, especially in less incorporated areas where illegal dumping of old furniture/appliances i ...Read More
s a HUGE problem. There's a county run hospital in Sylmar (less than 5 miles away), so the homeless population/encampments is significant. Dining establishments (actual restaurants) are limited and lack diversity; except for a Dennys, an IHOP and a couple other establishments most restaurants serve only Mexican food. Fast food is well represented (McDonald's, Burger King, Subway, Domino's, El Pollo Loco, Taco Bell, KFC and amazingly an In 'N Out). But, if you're worried about the lack of dining options, don't be. There’s an unlicensed street/food vendor selling Mexican food, that has never been inspected by the health department, on every other corner. Except for a Home Depot, Costco, Lowe's, Office Depot, Smart & Final, Vallarta and a Best Buy, almost all shopping is done at various discount stores (DD's Discounts, Payless Shoes, Dollar Tree, Big Lots). ransit, great parks for children and so much more! My time in San Fernando, California was amazing with non-stop entertainment and fun outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and zip lining! You can never get enough fun in this area with so much to do!
Housing in this city can be quite a problem with lots of high prices for rent and for ultimately buying a home all together. Although there are beautiful homes in California, affordability can be a big problem along with employment and job openings. Jobs can be low in the area and can cause a stir when wanting to build a life here in San Fernando. Crime and the cost of living are very high in this area which make graduation rates really low.
