Dellview is a neighborhood that has many "Atomic-Ranch" style homes and they are currently the rage. Many folks are buying them now because they are affordable and the location is in the current heart of San Antonio. The homes have a certain Asian simplicity about them that make ...Read More
them very attractive to new homeowners and arty folks that want to buy a home but not a McMansion. Many have wonderful wood floors and colorful bathrooms since the homes were built after the G.I. 's came home from WWII in 1950.
I would say that if you want to be close to great shopping, schools, eateries (La Foggata; Fat Boys), community center and the Medical center this might be the place for you. Though the neighborhood is in transition (like many inner cities in the nation) there is great potential.
Artists, architects, college professors, counselors and city workers are just a few of the professions of the folks that call Dellview home. Many actually grew up there and now that the parents have passed on they are taking over and fixing up gearing for the Retro look.
DANA is Dellview Area Neighborhood Association and is not a housing association that regulates what you do with your homes but rather a non for profit community organization that strives to make Dellview a the most happy and beautiful place to live. I know because I have spent 15 years here!
They are recently celebrating their 10th anniversary when they formed to help the community in keeping the housing stock and building a community center. Last year they held The Dellview Concert: A Journey through Time with the music of local Jazz great Bett Butler and Joel Dilley. Celebrating the memories and history of this neighborhood that makes it so cool and historical. Check it out at http://www.mysanantonio.com/life/article/Working-in-concert-for-Dellview-3874882.php
