I love living in Rowland Heights, CA. There is nothing better than walking down Colima Road in the late afternoon just as the sun is beginning to set. The smell of decadent spices and oriental fare fill your nostrils and remind you of the special area that you call home. This uni ...Read More
ncorporated community is a vibrant melting pot of culture, food, and people and boasts a sixty percent Asian population. Rowland Heights has become known as "Little Taipe" because of the high concentration of Taiwaneese merchants and eateries. Many think of it as a suburban "Koreatown" and "Chinatown," because it has become a main Chinese hub of the Los Angeles region.
When looking for ways to entertain the family, Rowland Heights has many gorgeous parks that make for great hiking and a free day of fun. My favorite is Powder Canyon Park. The trails here are well marked and the views are spectacular. If you feel the need for speed, Speedzone is great for the whole family. It has four race tracks, one that even requires drivers to have a license, and a large arcade. JJ Noodle House has the most delicious and authentic Chinese food of the area. One taste of their dumplings and you will be in love forever.
The area is safe, has good homes, convenient shopping, a growing economy, and the schools here are amazing. The Rowland Unified School District has received more state Golden Bell awards than any other school district and has Four Nation Blue Ribbon Schools. Many reasonably prices home can be found near Highway 60. Chic strip malls on Nogalas Street and Colima Road make for expedient shopping, as well as multiple Asian supermarkets throughout the area. Living in Rowland Heights, CA is great. It is like living in a busy city with a small town feel. As a mother of four I can't imagine a better place to raise a family.
