The Desert Life: Rosamond 1 rating By Anonymous ( May 10, 2018) If you like tiny towns and the desert, Rosamond is the place for you. I have lived here for two years and wouldn't likely recommend someone moves here. The closest city is Palmdale, a 30-minute drive, which you can hardly count a bustling metropolis. Since Rosamond is in the middle of the desert, the dirt and sand gets into all the nooks and crannies making everything seem dirty. The wind is non-stop and the heat in the summer is nearly unbearable. One would think the wind would help cool the area down in the summer, but it doesn't.

There are a few good things about Rosamond. First, when compared to the rest of California, the rent is cheap. Two, it is close to Edwards Air Force base for those military members who don't want to live on base. Last, Rosamond isn't part of Los Angeles County making things like getting a concealed carry permit easier. Read Less
