I grew up there

I grew up in Rockville and Potomac. It is a souless town. There is a feeling of vacuous void. No character. No friendliness. Nothing of any real interest to do except for going to Great Falls. There is just something about the Rockville area that is very resistant to happiness. I ...Read More
f it weren't that I were forced to, I could not honestly recommend this place for any of the categories listed as a-hole was not one of the categories. There is almost nothing to do. There is no community. The nightlife consists of young alcoholics who are escaping the souless void through drugs. Dining is expensive and poor quality. Shopping is expensive and limited, but for some healthy choices and Trader Joes is awesome, but WAY TO CROWDED. The area is over run with a-holes. The few who are not a-holes are not happy to be among the a-holes and may themselves therefore become a-holes over time. Hopefully, if you work there you don't live there. I do not recommend this town to anyone who wants to raise a happy well adjusted family. Find a place with some real character, where people say hello to one another and not like it is a stressful scary thing to do. No one even wants to make eye-contact in Rockville. Even at the check out people have some sort of awkward virus that won't allow them to comfortably make eye contact and you will catch this virus if you live there, especially if you grow up there. Save your children. Find a better place.

Parks, shopping, city services, libraries, colleges, nightlife, diversity, transportation, retirement facilities, golf, tennis, pools, lakes, skate park, theaters, safety, celebrations and a great location ! Just to name a few things. Single family homes range from $250,000 to $1 ...Read More
.375 Million (6/30/16), There's two bus lines, Metro rail, Marc train, AMTRAK, Zip cars and bike rentals at Metros. Automotive services, Court houses, hotels, hospital, bio-med industries and high tech companies can all be found in Rockville. Then there's the Rockville Town Square that brings the community together with restaurants with outdoor dining, shops, library, gym, organic market, arts center and outdoor stage for live music. You really can't beat Rockville !

al seafood and cultural combinations like Jamaican-Asian. There's a bit of a dead mall nearby, so shopping wasn't great, but all of the D.C. attractions were just a subway ride away. The weather is agreeable and there were plenty of nature trails and public parks nearby. It's a perfect destination for nature lovers and foodies. Everything's virtually at your fingertips.

With a truly suburban feel, while being as close to metropolitan as one can get, Rockville, MD is a place offering the best of everything. I've lived in Rockville for most of my life and never want for more.

It is a thriving area with easy access to the city. We do have beautiful parks that are so serene, you can be fooled into thinking you are in the country. As much as I enjoy the level of activity around me, sometimes a trip to one of these parks is just what I need to rejuvenate.
Rockville is easy to navigate, even to a newcomer. The town is very well laid out, and there is easy access to public transportation. The Metro can take you to work, or into downtown Washington, DC. Avoiding the traffic is a must. Why not take the Metro and spend that time reading or listening to music? No need to worry about finding parking and the rates are affordable.
Shopping and eating are two of my most enjoyed activities. I can enjoy foods from around the world without ever leaving my neighborhood. Thai, Italian, Ethiopian, Greek, you name it, can be found within minutes of my kitchen! One of my favorites, though, is an all american diner on Rockville Pike. I love the atmosphere and the endless menu.
If you live in Rockville, MD now, take some time to explore the area. I am always finding new places to shop or eat. With our close proximity to Washington, DC, the possibilities are endless. Although my area is expensive, there are many low cost activities available.
