How on Earth is it possible for a town to have an impressively low crime rate and yet nothing else good about it? River Grove, Illinois is a place like that. We have barely any crime here, but we do have are some terrible schools, shabby neighborhoods filled with litter and junk, no jobs, no decent housing, and more and more people who seem to be more like zombies than human beings. I have lived in River Grove for 4 years and while the crime rate remains steadily low, all of the other things that make for a good community just simply don't exist. I am giving serious consideration to moving away soon. I want to live in one of the best areas in Illinois, not one of the most pathetic.
At least the close proximity to Chicago offers some fun things to do and see. There's the Chicago Helicopter Experience for air tours of the city, Chicago Prohibition Tours, Shoreline Sightseeing boat tours, the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, and of course some really great pizza restaurants and bars. It's hard to believe River Grove is located so close to a great place like Chicago and none of the awesomeness of that city has rubbed off here.
