Red Oak has changed 0.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 28, 2020) Red Oak has really gone downhill since I moved here and nothing is being done to stop the decline. No matter what the statistics say, crime is rampant and getting worse. Car and residential burglaries plague my neighborhood. A neighbor of mine was robbed at gunpoint and physicall ...Read More y assaulted recently. My back door was kicked in and they shattered one of the windows trying to break in to my house. Thankfully something must have spooked them before they could get in and steal. I've heard gunfire multiple times and city officials would rather keep their heads in the sand and act as though the city is very safe. It isn't. They fail to acknowledge that Red Oak's home-grown criminal element is responsible for an overwhelming majority of crimes committed here, not people living elsewhere. They mayor and city council members neighborhood's get adequate policing and extra resources devoted to their communities while everywhere else gets neglect and indifference.

The Red Oak ISD schools are awful. Everyone knows or learns the hard way that the only viable public school option in the city is Life School. If you can't get in there, save your children the grief and find a private school. The city claims it is pro-growth and trying to improve overall quality of life for its citizens, which is a lie. Instead, they allow developers to throw up treeless cookie-cutter subdivisions, data centers, and cheap retail establishments that pay low wages and do nothing to improve the tax base. A city cant thrive with all of these issues. Read Less
Four years of disappointment 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Jan 16, 2020) I moved to Red Oak four years ago and I plan on getting out very soon. This community has been a complete disappointment for me and my family. This is the least "friendly" place I've ever lived. There are decent people living here like every other place, but many of the native r ...Read More esidents absolutely detest the newcomers moving here and aren't afraid to admit it. Red Oak isn't inclusive or welcoming to outsiders. The city has grown, but is unable to attract many of the amenities you see in other areas. You have to drive to nearby communities for decent restaurants, shopping, and quality grocery stores. The schools are below average for a mostly middle class area and there is a rampant bullying problem in the secondary campuses that has been ongoing for years and nothing has been done about it. That is one of the main reasons we are leaving. I value education and no longer want to my children in an environment where such behavior is tolerated and academic quality is lacking. There is also a culture of favoritism and nepotism present within the school district and local government. The culture of "knowing the right people" runs rampant here. Red Oak has the potential to improve in the future, but things need to change in a major way. I'm not encouraging everyone to avoid Red Oak, just be sure to do your research so you don't end up in my situation. Read Less

Red Oak, TX has a high income per capita. There is high employability for the new graduates. The poverty level in this small city is lower than the national average. People value luxury. I enjoyed living a luxurious life in this town.
