Pontiac, MI: Not a Safe City User Rating 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 05, 2010) As a native Michigander, I know a lot about each city in our great state. I also know that Pontiac is not a very safe city to reside in or visit. I have visited Pontiac multiple times for business reasons and have been displeased each time. The city is not very clean, the buildin ...Read More gs are dirty, and there always seems to be litter collecting on the sidewalks and streets. It is not a very pleasant place to walk around. In addition, I have never felt safe even driving in my automobile within the city.

Pontiac has a pretty high crime rate. There are also many homeless people that live in Pontiac. If I were raising a child and looking for a new place to live, I would most likely never go to Pontiac. The schools in Pontiac are also some of the worst in Michigan. Living in Pontiac is like setting one's family up for failure. It is truly sad to see how many young people end up being involved in crime because they grew up in Pontiac. Even the nightlife in Pontiac is not that great. Overall, I would not recommend visiting or living within the city of Pontiac. Read Less
