I previously had the opportunity to live in Plainfield, NJ for five years as a young adult leaving home for the first time. I chose Plainfield, NJ as a fairly decent commute to Princeton. Although I found Plainfield, NJ a decent place to live, I would not go back.

ral tourist attractions located in Plainfield, NJ, some of which are worth visiting. The historical Drake House Museum should be the first attraction to see. The two main streets that house all of the attractions are Front Street and Park Ave. Travel along these two streets, and you will take in most of what Plainfield, NJ has in the way of sightseeing. Most of these are quite expensive, and not worth the price. Others are not worth going to at all. It all depends on your circumstances and tastes. Green Brook Park is nice for taking walks, jogging, or a family outing. Best of all, it is free to visit. I enjoyed going to the park with a good book. There is plenty of shade. If you are just visiting Plainfield, NJ, you will be disappointed to find that there are no five star hotels. Howard Johnson's and Wiser Norman are your best bet, but two stars is the best rating I can give. Fine dining is available. There are some very nice restaurants. Catering mostly to tourists, these restaurants are very pricey.
Housing in Plainfield is very expensive for even a decent neighborhood. Be prepared to negotiate your price, but you will pay a tidy sum for a simple one story single family home. Most of the neighborhoods are tree-lined with small houses very close together. If you are looking for privacy and a big lot, you will pay a big price. Also, choose the area of the city you wish to live in wisely. There are some areas that are more family friendly than others. Some are safer than others, and some are off-limits due to noise, dangerous activity, and rough night life activities.
