I grew up in Placentia, California. As a child, it was a wonderful place to live. My parents often complained about the traffic, but I didn't care because I went to a great high school close to my house and found it a good place to make friends and get an above average education. ...Read More
Our school was strong in sports and we often won titles in our league.
Of course, my favorite thing about living in this area was that we were so close to the beach. The California coastline is beautiful area with warm summers and lots of clean sandy beaches. Most days I could be found enjoying the warmth of the California sun. Often the area was overcast in the morning, but after the few clouds and fog rolled away, the afternoons were fabulous.
Who couldn't love all the amusement parks that were so close? When you are a kid, it is like living in a dream world. I think my parents enjoyed it to because we spent many Saturdays at Disneyland or Knotts Berry farm. Because we were residents of the state, we often were able to get discounts to many of the major attractions in the area. Most things were so close that once I got my driver's license, I was allowed to drive myself. Of course, the freeways were a little tricky, but because I grew up with them, it was easy to learn how to navigate.
Because the weather was mild all year long, I longed to live in an area that had real seasons. I wanted to see snow and not have a sun dress on during the Christmas holiday. Placentia was known for the great weather it has, but I wanted to try something new. I moved to Nebraska after college and boy was I surprised to find out what real weather could be. I must say, I miss those warm sunny days and love to go back to visit when ever I get a chance. It is a wonder city, and I am glad I had the chance to grow up in this beautiful part of the state.
