The housing market is below average, with most homeowners selling or renting to lower income families, which is unfortunately a recipe for the decline of a community.

The city doesn't have many options when it comes to shopping, dining, or nightlife. There are no malls or major shopping centers, dining is sub-par with most restaurants in the area being franchises, and nightlife is just virtually nonexistent. Painesville has a small town feel in that people who grew up there are closely knit together and not very friendly to outsiders.

Overall, Painesville may be a good option for those looking for cheaper options for housing but still want to be close to the city. However, if you're looking to settle down and/or raise a family, you're better off searching elsewhere. Read Less
