My husband and I have raised 3 happy, smart kids in the 30 years that we have lived here in Overland. The overview on this website incorrectly states the number of schools: there is one high school (a very good school, beautiful campus, caring, involved teachers - it's the b ...Read More
est kept secret in St. Louis county!). There are also two middle schools and a handful of grade schools (I think six). I mistrust the other statistics given by the website, since the most basic, easily-checked facts are incorrectly reported here. All the schools are beautiful, and we are very pleased with the quality of the education our children received (all three graduated college and have been successfully launched). We have not been victims of crime once in all this time; as one must in any place or situation, a little common sense goes a long way in ensuring the safety of persons and property. Most neighbors here take care of their homes and yards; in any area, there will always be a few who do not. The police are out and about, driving through the streets, and are helpful, friendly and courteous. We have many beautiful, well-maintained parks. Home prices are reasonable, and people are down to earth and friendly. We are central to EVERYTHING; virtually any attraction, restaurant or event is within a 20 minute drive. We chose to move here 30+ years ago; we considered more "fashionable" neighborhoods back then and I am so glad we resisted any temptation to move to areas like that... we are able to live safely, comfortably and well within our means here in Overland.

Nope. Nope. Nope! That's about as plainly as I can state my opinion of living in Overland Missouri. Talk about a place where the people are just too lazy to care about anything at all: their schools, their homes, their neighborhoods, each other! I am actually embarrassed when peo ...Read More
ple ask me where I live to admit to living in Overland. Definitely not one of the best areas in the entire state. Believe me, that will be changing within the next year because I am moving!. I cannot wait to put as much distance between myself and this town as I possibly can.
I will give props to the few places around here that make life at least bearable: the Wildlife Command Center, the Daniel Boone Home, Game Haven arcade, Endicott Park for their disc golf, which is a rare find anywhere around here; Lamplight Studios art gallery and art classes, and the Holocaust Museum and Learning Center. You might find the occasional bar or restaurant, but even those are few and far between around here.
