Orangeburg, SC - What To Do User Rating 1.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 23, 2018) I lived in Orangeburg, SC for about 6 months once. One thing I really did like about living in Orangeburg is that you get to experience all 4 seasons whic ...Read More h isn't always the case in my moving experiences.

Most towns have attractions for both residents and visitors, but Orangeburg doesn't get many visitors so the attractions are limited. The two that stand out in my mind are the Edisto Memorial Gardens and the I.P. Stanback Museum & Planetarium. Both are plush in history worth the visit. As far as restaurants go there's Chestnut Grill, Thai Lotus, Original House of Pizza, Rosalia's Mexican Restaurant and the local favorite Dukes Bar-B-Que. There are other restaurants in Orangeburg, but they're mostly chain operated.

Most of the population here are descendants from farmers or plantation owners. While the town has grown in size and population, it isn't growing as fast as larger neighboring counties. You can find a couple of shopping centers here and a small mall for the city of Orangeburg, however, most shops are chain operated as well. One of the local favorites is the Springfield flea market. If you're willing to travel a little further for better entertainment, the Santee River touches a good portion of Orangeburg County where you can find fishing, swimming, boating, and the like.
