I've lived in or near Orange Park for almost fifty years, though I was a back and forth visitor to my family during 30 years in the military. It is a great town, with superb access to one of the fastest growing cities in Florida. It has fewer homeless than most other places in t ...Read More
he Southeast, mainly because there isn't a lot to attract them. They tend to go to the parks and shopping areas of nearby Jacksonville. The person that talked about bedbugs and roaches is a moron, since these critters don't know one place from another. I can assure you that roaches don't crawl on the street, here, or anywhere - since roaches just don't do that. There is great housing, A rated schools, a true town feel and superb nearby medical and other attractions - i.e. Mayo Hospital. Superb town for raising kids and closest town to Jacksonville Naval Air Station, which brings in great people. We are working to make this a five star town, and we'll get there soon.

We raised our 3 kids in Orange Park, and it's a comfortable, established suburb with plenty of trees, the Jax River, and Doctor's Lake. New construction homes are mostly in Argyle and Oak Leaf Plantation. There's a mall with theaters, and plenty of restaurants for the area. The s ...Read More
chools were decent, and we had everything we wanted and needed readily available. It's a comfortable burb, great for the minivan mom life.
Setting the Record Straight: Bedbugs aren't more populous in OP. I never saw any in my 12 years there. The homeless population isn't all over the place, but there are homeless people everywhere if you pay attention. The South and SoCal have more because it's easier to live outside. They are people who deserve compassion and help, not pests. I regularly saw a couple of homeless people, which wasn't a big deal. My friend is part of a group of knitters in OP who make scarves and hats for the homeless. She knows where to look for them, but they aren't sleeping on sidewalks and making tent cities like in SoCal.
