It is a relatively upper middle-class town and a very safe and cost effective option as opposed to living directly in Lansing. Okemos is definitely a great place to raise a family and boasts being named ...Read More one of the best cities to live in Michigan. The public schools in Okemos are among the best in the state, and the city is located to one of the best colleges in the country- Michigan State University. The city is also close to Ann Arbor, which has another nationally renowned college- University of Michigan. Okemos is conveniently located between the Lansing and the Detroit area, so shopping and other nightlife/entertainment is close by.

The weather in Okemos is the same as you'd find anywhere in the lower peninsula of Michigan. Colder and more snowy winters, and hot (often times humid) summers. Living in Okemos is best suited for someone raising a family and is one of the best areas to live in Michigan for safety and education. Read Less
