Statics Are Misleading 5 rating By Anonymous ( Aug 19, 2018) The stastics used for Temescal are very misleading. The crime rate in Oakland is the lowest its been in 10 years; down 23% since 2012. It gets its name from Temescal Creek. Temescal Lake is two miles away. The District is described as "vibrant, gritty and eclectic." Like Piedmont and Montclair, it ...Read More was once a separate village that served passengers who stopped along the railway that ran from Berkeley to downtown Oakland.I love this neighborhood. My extended family memberes have live in the area for over four decades. My real estate office is located in the Temescal shopping district on Telegraph Avenue. This trendsetting neighborhood is next door to another storied neighborhood, Bushrod Park.Temescal is roughly bordered by highway 24 on the west, Broadway on the East, and roughly MacArthur Blvd on the south, and 55st Street on the north. This is a lose outline of the ares and may vary slightly from person to person.Gentrification has attracted an influx of newcomers and driven home prices in the area into the mid $800,000 price range for a 2 bedroom, one bath home. The amenities are bountiful. To name a few there's Art & Art Galleries, Restaurants, Shops, Book Stores, Bike Shops, Hair Salons, Churches, Farmers Market, Night Life, Homemade brew, a shop to buy diving equipment, Temescal swiming pool on 45th Street, schools, BART, a a tool lending library, and real estate services, retail, Apparel, Yoga Studios, Fast Food, condo developments.It's a diverse neighborhood that includes a large Eritrean diaspora, Children's Hospital employees, first-time buyers, long-time residents.
