Don't Waste Your Time In Niles, MI 2.5 rating By Anonymous ( May 28, 2018) The fact that I have been living in Niles, Michigan for 14 solid years now and can give the place no more than a 5-star rating on a scale of 1 to 10 pretty much says it all. It is absolutely depressing here. Run-down neighborhoods, an astronomical crime rate, people who walk arou ...Read More nd like zombies and just don't care about their community, schools with shameful dropout rates and graduation rates, no jobs to be found (and that goes for housing as well). There was a time when people took pride in their neighborhoods and their homes. I guess those days are long past in this town.

There are a few things to do in Niles for entertainment, although even in that department it isn't one of the best areas in Michigan either. There's the Silver Beach Carousel, Fernwood Botanical Gardens & Nature Preserve, Strikes & Spares Entertainment Center which has bowling, mini-golf and arcade games, the Niles Family Fun Fair and Bluegrass / Americana Music Festival, which is just about the most exciting thing that ever happens around here, and a few local bars and restaurants.
