I'm a third generation native San Franciscan on both sides of my family and my grandparents ...Read More often vacationed in Lake County at Blue Lakes in Upper Lake, CA and at Clearlake. Clearlake is a well established historic Bay Area Resort Community that offers the relaxing elements one desires for a vacation retreat with still more than plenty to do. You have to have a strong appreciation for scenic Mountain Lake beauty, laid back friendly people, wine tasting, watersports, and nature activities to enjoy a vacation home in Clearlake area. It offers this without the crowds of Yosemite and Lake Tahoe, which are both majestic places but a different environment and atmosphere. Clearlake is not a shopping town...it's the place to get away from it all and relax and then venture back to a busy life. The geologic landscape of Mt. Konocti rivals Oahu, Hawaii both in Sunsets and in beauty with an added advantage, Fall foliage. Lucerne, Nice, and Glenhaven are particularly the 'view spots' to buy in the Clearlake area. It's a great destination vacation area that I'll enjoy the rest of my life. Also so many historic barns to photograph if you like that! Upper Lake, CA is putting a lot of money into restoring their town particularly on Main Street. Certain eateries like Fresh Bangin' Eatery in Lucerne, CA and the Blue Wing Saloon in Upper Lake, CA are on par with SF cuisine. I can verify that. Just a great place. Read Less
