My Life In Queensboro, NYC User Rating 3 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 05, 2014) I have lived in the Queensboro Hill for most of my life. This area definitely has culture, there is tons of history, you can see where it has been touched by new technology, and let's not forget the little flowers along the highway that give so much appeal. This neighborhood has ...Read More plenty of gorgeous sunshine and gets a good bit of the four seasons. Kids love the snow and sunshine combination that this area delivers. Even though it is a Northern city and some think people are a bit crisp, this community is extremely friendly. It's the kind of neighborhood where people wave to those driving by. Close to the big city, but small enough to feel rural, Queensoboro Hill is a great place to live.

Technically part of the Flushing/Queens area, those who don't want to pay a fortune to live in Manhattan choose outlying areas like this. There are over 70,000 people that call this area home. Here counties are called boroughs. On the west side of the city is College Point Boulevard. The north side of the city is bordered by Kissena Park. This park is always bustling with children playing, families walking their pets and picnics under a shade tree. On the South side of town Reeves Avenue is the border and the famous Long Island Expressway. The Eastern border is Fresh Meadow Lane.

There are plenty of shopping strip malls and the usual big stores around. For those who need to be close to a hospital, The New York Hospital, Queens Branch is close. Of course, like most neighborhoods, there are churches on every corner. However, the Queensboro Hill Community Church is one of the biggest. It is a multi-racial congregation. They are associated with the Reformed Church in America. Of course public transportation is not a problem here, the subway system is in full operation and easy to get to. A quick trip aboard the famous trains will get you into Manhattan and the downtown area in no-time.

From day one, you will feel at home. There is a great circuit for art and a couple galleries close by. The nightlife is pretty active. They cater to a wide variety of people. Food, well Flushing is all about food. Any kind of cosine can be found here, but there are some of the best pizza shops around. The crime rate is a bit higher than most areas, but it is a great place to raise the kids close to the big city, without being right in the thick of it. Read Less
