Recently Relocated User Rating 4 rating By Anonymous ( Jun 05, 2014) I recently relocated to Parkchester, New York, NY to start a brand new job and career, having previously moved to Parkchester, New York, NY from Los Angeles, California. I transferred here to work at the Macys Department Store to be a manager due to needing to be closer to my fat ...Read More her, who sadly was diagnosed with lung cancer and needed some help. Anyway, I was impressed so much with the amenities in this area! Especially the things like the Attractions, I give those at least a 9 because I can go to Central Park, see the Statue of Liberty, or go see a play on Broadway and all of it is less than a few miles away.

Shopping and restaurants in the area are both a ten! There are tons of shopping districts and restaurants within just a few miles. I love being able to go out to eat, then go shopping, and then go home and never have to go more than 20 or 30 miles away. And even if I didn't want to drive, my dad's house is right near the transit stops, so I could even take public transportation.

Community is pretty good, at least housing is plentiful, but somewhat expensive. But there are medical, dental and banking close by. There's roving 24 hour security too, but I have heard that in some areas there have been some crime, but no worse than upstate in New York proper. Plus, jobs here make a little less than in New York proper, but I think our cost of living may be a little less too.

Nightlife is a nine, would have been a ten but I worry alittle about crime rates in some places. However, I think overall the clubs and bars in the area are pretty secure and have a great atmosphere.

The overall rating of Parkchester, New York, NY has to be about a 9, especially due to the fantastic array of amenities with the public transportation, great restaurants, good shopping areas, and of course the fantastic sunny weather we have in the summer time. I also have been told the schools systems are pretty good too, but I am not married so can't say from personal experience. So, if you are thinking about moving to Parkchester, New York, NY, then hello future neighbor! Read Less
