New Market is Disappointing User Rating 2 rating By Anonymous ( Oct 23, 2019) Pretty and quiet area. Our neighborhood is very nice. What's not nice is how expensive it is, which is shocking for a small-town Virginia. The water/sewer rate are absolutely astronomical; in the 5 years we've lived here, the rate have increased every single year. Most recently b ...Read More y 68%. And they have the nerve to send out a notice about it saying that the rate are "comparable, and in some cases lower than neighboring towns". Total lie because I called all the neighboring towns and they are ALL lower than New Market. And don't expect help from anyone in the town office; Lindsay and Amber are both very short and nasty, and town manager Todd is just as rude. So unless you are okay with paying more for water/sewer than for power and gas put together, don't move to New Market. Go to Timberville; they actually have affordable rates and as an added bonus, people there are super friendly and helpful. Read Less
