New Castle, Indiana is a small town located an hour or so east of Indianapolis. It is an average small town comparable to the rest of the small towns in the Midwest. There isn't much special about the city, and the statistics as far as crime and the housing market are the same as the rest of Indiana's smaller communities.
The city has seen a recent rise in petty crime over the last few years. Many residents attribute this to a lack of competence in the local police force. Many residents remember what New Castle was like in it's prime and want to see it get that way again. It may be impossible though without the reintroduction of factory jobs and more trade labor positions opening in the area.
The weather in the area is comparable to the rest of Indiana or the Midwest in general, with winters being brutally cold and snowy, and summers being more hot and humid. It should be noted as well that because of New Castle's location near or even in tornado alley, tornadoes are always a possibility during the spring and summer months.
