The city of Mundelein, Illinois is a suburb located approximately 35 miles north of Chicago with a population of 31,064. This quaint little village has been around since the mid 1600's, initially the trading post between the Potawatomi people and fur traders from France. Peter Shaddie is listed as the first settler of the town from the early 19th century when he erected a log cabin on the street that is now his namesake. The same log cabin has been owned by St. Mary of the Lake Seminary since 1835.
